Training Academy/Find Demand/Why AsherGate does not import SAM.gov yet Beginner8 min · Progress tracking is not available yet
What you will be able to do
After this lesson you should be able to download a SAM.gov package yourself, create an AsherGate draft, and explain why pasting a notice URL does not pull the files. Video and Ask AsherGate AI stay unavailable in this product phase.
The official files still come from the GPE
FAR 5.102 makes synopsized solicitations available through the GPE at https://www.sam.gov. SAM.gov Contract Opportunities is that public search. AsherGate is a company workspace. It does not crawl SAM.gov, does not accept a notice URL as an import, and does not keep your draft in sync when the agency posts Amendment 0002.
That limit is intentional in this product phase. You choose which files to store. You see each PDF, workbook, and image. Later analysis can run on saved PDF, Word, and Excel files, but only after you uploaded them, and only as a starting extract that a bidder must compare with the source. If analysis is refused, incomplete, or times out, the product leaves your files and any previously saved analysis unchanged.
Worked walkthrough: download, then create the draft
Using the Copperlane story below, the SAM.gov listing AG-IMP-26-0614 names three files: the RFQ PDF, Amendment 0001 PDF, and a length workbook. Pasting the notice URL into AsherGate does not attach those files.
Download all three from SAM.gov. In this workspace choose New Solicitation, name the draft AG-IMP-26-0614 Copperlane, and upload every file. Confirm the amendment changed quantity from 400 to 360 in the source PDF before anyone prices anything. Do not submit a bid from AsherGate.
Fictional example
Copperlane Weatherstrips LLC and a URL that did not import
Copperlane Weatherstrips LLC is a fictional door-seal shop in Grand Rapids, Michigan. It finds a fictional RFQ, AG-IMP-26-0614, from a fictional Grand River Housing Desk for 360 lengths of commercial weatherstrip.
A new teammate copies the SAM.gov URL into an AsherGate note and looks for an Import control. There is none. The listing still sits only on SAM.gov, with three files attached there.
They download the RFQ PDF, Amendment 0001 PDF, and the length workbook. They create a draft named AG-IMP-26-0614 Copperlane and upload all three. Amendment 0001 changed the quantity from 400 to 360. They confirm that wording in the PDF, then stop. AsherGate has not submitted a quotation.
